What an honor to be selected as your new principal! Please allow me to tell you a little bit about myself.
When I was pursuing my Bachelor’s degree at Alma College, I realized I was being called to education. I couldn’t imagine any nobler profession. After more than 30 years of teaching, coaching, and working as an administrator, I know no greater privilege exists! That is why I have dedicated my entire career to working with our most precious commodity: our children.
In 1 Corinthians 10:31 we are told, “…whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” I firmly believe that no matter what we do, our actions either bring someone closer to God or they pull them away from Him. At St. Mary’s School Community we have so many opportunities to serve God, give Him glory, and bring those around us closer to Him.
I also believe that good educators should be good students! My love of learning has helped me to earn a Master’s Degree from Eastern University in Educational Technology and Ed Specialist Degree from Oakland University. Since I enjoy seeking out new ways to learn and grow, you might find me reading a book about a saint, studying our Faith, or researching best practices in education.
When I am not at work, I am spending time with my beautiful family. My wife, Greta, and I have 9 children. We consider them our greatest blessing from God! As you can imagine, we are busy but delightedly so. If you can’t find me here at school or at Mass, you will likely see me at the soccer fields. As a family, we enjoy sports, the great outdoors, traveling to Northern Michigan, and spending as much family time together as possible.
